I am a history student and enthusiast of Native American History in New York's Hudson Valley. We have many Ceremonial Stone sites, calendar sites, serpent walls, chambers, and stone piles here. I have hiked out to many of them to photograph them. They definitely seem different from the colonial stone walls and rubbish piles and root cellars which are also abundantly present. Some of the best examples of Serpent Walls we have are on Overlook Mountain in Woodstock NY. There is I believe an organization similar to NEARA or maybe even affiliated with them which studies and preserves this site in particular. It is called the Overlook Mountain Center and a google search will turn up their website (not sure if we can put links in comments here). The book Mysterious Stone Sites of the Hudson Valley by Linda Zimmerman is also a good resource for finding some of these sites, my copy is well worn from many hikes. You should be careful with her interpretations of some of the sites however which sometimes tend towards grandiose conclusions. Unfortunately we have the same problems here with academic pushback against the recognition of these sites as being Native American in origin. Such racist and ridiculous comments as "Eastern Woodland Indians never built anything with stones" were commonly issued up until recently. The academic community has slightly eased off the attacks recently and instead is taking a posture of indifference.

Indians are from India so stop calling the builders of these structures Indians.

What an amazing lecture😮....I've been studying,in the field ,here in N.Florida(Big Bend) Stone formations,Effigies,Sites....... This is an amazing area that was plowed over and under for the papper mill by huge machinery destroying everything. Luckily the state saved areas and there are still undisturbed sites near big cypress swamps or rivers. I've been documenting everything.

I own 50 acres and about a week ago on my property I found stacked stones oval shaped and the enclosure is about 15 feet long. On one end I searched down about 5 inches and found a flat rock about two oval in size. On top of this flat rock were arrowheads, hand tools all placed on top of this one rock. I’ve been trying to see if possible someone could actually come and look or even excavate this ancient site. The entire enclosure is about 15 feet long and about 8 feet wide. I’ve only searched one small are and only dug about 5 inches deep and found about 25 different artifacts. At this point if I can’t get any help discovering this site, I will just investigate it myself. I would rather any of the artifacts go to a museum to future research and observation.
